About: Antiviruses, spywares, adwares..

I'm not sure why (I wish I was a better computer techy) but Mozilla works much faster than Internet Explorer. To start using it, go via your Internet Explorer and search google for Mozilla have a read of a few recommendations if you like. Here is the download page. It will create an Icon for you on your desktop and from here on in Use Mozilla: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

Then for Anti virus, for 5 years I have been using AVG freeware and I've been very pleased with it. You need to renew every year but it's still free. To get the latest free AVG 8 go to: http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download?prd=afe

Because this AVG is free it does not have technical support, nor does it have comprehensive spyware. But it will protect from viruses and is very popular as a free download.

To spyware. Try Spybot - search and destroy. This was just recommended to me by a computer tech and I've installed it and ran it and it cleaned up my computer very nicely. I will be running this every few days. It runs well with AVG 8, meaning it can run along side it without interfering with it.http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html

If you have existing spyware already on your computer, or old anti virus wear that has expired then uninstall them first.

I am not much of a tech savy but I can share what I have in my computer.
I have Symantec which I update almost daily. Then I have adware spyware and Zonelarm firewall.
However, as Tetchie has said I wish to download AVG.

AntiVirus and AntiSpyware products have their signature files updated and passed to users as threats evolve. Hopefully your product has real time updates. If not, you have to wait till the update is sent out, leaving you open to the threat.
Firewalls, often forgotten by the casual user are very useful if configured properly.
AVG and Avast are favored by alot, Zonealarm being the fav for Firewalls.
Firewalls will thwart the port attacks and stop malicious code from being executed remotely.
