The worlds economy seems to be going into a sad meltdown, the price of fuels is now spirraling out of control. In many countries people are starting to demonstrate aginst fuel prices.
Where you live how bad has the problem become and just how much does it affect your daily living.
Personnally I do everything possible to keep cost down, ie, energy efficient light bulbs, appliances, switch off everything that is not essential, walk rather than drive.
I few years ago I would never have thought about doing these things but now it is a 'must do' not just a fad.
What are your views and ideas on beating the rising fuel costs ?

There's not much we can do here. While I live in NYC our island here is quite suburban. We're taking public transportation more often, cutting down electric usage, and filling up once a week for work purposes. I brought up the idea of carpooling with hubby and so far it looks like a huge possibility (this way we can save a ton of bucks since it won't only be one person in the vehicle).
I overheard a few of my neighbors talking about boycotting/picketing our nearby gas station but I told them it wouldn't be good since our local station isn't to blame. The owner is trying to make money selling his sodas and other overpriced items just to get by- the gas buying and selling for them yields little or no profit.
