I know with the rising cost of airfare and gas prices that many people are staying close to home this summer. I do not blame you at all.
It gives people a chance to check out what available to do in there own areas.
I live in Tennessee, yet I have not been to the Grand Ole Opry or Opry Land. There are many caves, rivers, and activities around here to do.
Water slides and amusement parks are a couple of things. The zoo and museums.
We have many things to do in Tennessee. It's odd that people want to travel, me included to other places to see wonderous things when we all have many right in our own areas.
I love seeing a visiting other places. I have not been anywhere for 2 years,(outside this country). Now with the prices I do not know that it is much of an option anymore.
I take my granchildren to the science museum, the park, bowling, and to the drive in movies. There is an art museum close by that I will take them to this summer.
Also, the many cabins on the lake sounds like something fun to do. I just will not be able to stay there long becuase none of them allow you to bring your pets. My "pets' are my babies. They saty in doors and know what they are supposae to do and where to do it.
I searched the net all over for a place to go for a week or 2 with my babies. No such luck.
One of my grandchildren usually goes to Mississippi to spend time with family there in the summer, (a whole month). This is hard since we miss the one that's gone and they miss out on what we go to do.
We have many things to go do. The lake that is close by and we have a boat to use on it. The beach area to go swimming. ANd some of the other things I mentioned.
What is your plans this summer? What is in your area to do? How do you pass your time when not at work or school?
I'd love to hear what you all do. Please share with us. Thank you so much in advance.

You are so lucky to live close to things. We have an amusement park that is about a 2 hour drive and that town offers shows as well. We have went there twice so far this summer. There are a few natural parks close by but they really don't have stuff that would be worth the drive over because my kids would be bored the whole time we were there. We went to Pensacola Beach for our family vacation and now we are broke for the next month at least lol. Limits our going probably for the rest of the summer. With gas prices climbing higher and higher we might be making very few trips to the lake or creeks that are with in 30 miles of our home.

I hate the summer. I hate the heat , if we go anywhere it is usually during a cooler time period. We live in S.E. GA. so we are close to several beaches (i refuse to go) water parks (i refuse to go) and a multitude of other things (some of them i will go). We are also within a hour or so of the florida line and not far from S.Carolina. So there is always something pretty close by when we want to do something.

The heat is ruff. I can not stay in it for long periods of time. If I get hot or too much sun I have seizers.
This is why the museums and other places are good for us. I do have a class A motorhome that is great for taking to the water and me beating the sun. We also have a few places we go for the children to swim that have plenty of shade.
Since we use lakes and not the ocean I think we are pretty safe to go inot the water.
I don't live far from the Ga. line about an hour. Have a safe summer and try to beat the heat.
Thank you for sharing.

Everybody thinks i'm joking when i tell them that the sun makes me sick. It makes makes me physically ill. I run a fever, i throw up, i get severe headaches. I finally just started telling people that i just don't like the heat because i got sick of seeing that "what a whopper" look on their face.

I believe the heat and sun can make you sick. I know a few people that is does that to. I can no get too hot or be in the sun long or I will get sick and have seizers. It is one of my triggers for having the seizers. I get sick to my stomach, a headache and get dizzy seeing spots. I then have a seizer. SOmetimes it can be bad enough that I end up in the hospital. SO I have to be careful and be in the shade as much as I can. Or a cool place is much better. Inside activities are great. But we take the children to the lake and hiking.
