In 99% BSOD appears when there emerges a conflict between a device and the OS core. I would not call it purely software or hardware issue, in most cases it is a problem of an incorrectly functioning driver. In my case it was a video graphics adaptor driver that gave me BSOD as the game required some functions that it was able to perform, but the driver was outdated. Windows Vista without SP1 gives me BSOD all the time after I create a new user profile and try to switch to it without restart by selecting Log Off and Change User.

It all depends if you can find the root of the problem. The error codes you get in the bluescreen are your clues search for what they mean. If the BSOD names and files search what that file is and see if there are any other people having problems with it.

BSOD is a severe error normally attributed to hardware conflict or system fault. For a new device a possible reason for this is it has factory defects provided the software component are valid and error free. One would surely have this error if one keeps on messing with the configurations ignoring the limitation of the device such as over clocking. If you are doing regular disk and registry maintenance and you often receive this then it is a sign of an impending hardware failure.
