Female or African-American President? What would our forefathers think?  email this discussion to a friend?

Now i'm not up to politics, and i've never had any energy for presidential elections unless the media makes a field day of it, but in this case, the race for president between the status quo candidate (McCain), female candidate (Hillary) and an African-American candidate (Obama), this could really be interesting.

I've got nothing against McCain, but as for Hillary and Obama, if either of them becomes the next president of the United States, it would be a first in the country's political history of elections. If our forefathers, like George Washington, Ben Franklin, John Adams, etc. watched these elections, I wonder what would they think and say about it. After all, there's nothing in the US Constitution or Bill of Rights preventing an election of a candidate of a different gender OR race.

As I stated before, this election could be very interesting, and even if the forefathers aren't alive to see this, I wonder what's going on in their minds about this new political turn of events.

As much as i understand what you are getting at in your topic of choice, i would have to say that im now registered to vote and there is not a question in my mind that i am voting for Obama. i see Mccain as being very similar to Bush, and this is something i think we should be staying away from. everyone has there opinion, i know this... but why dont we look at the big picture? until now we only had WHITE MEN as our president. In my opinion voting for Obama, would make it easier to conmmunicate with many people and countries. i think that if we show the rest of the world that we are not afraid of change, that we are not all standing for the same thing, our surrounding countries will see this as a change, they will not see us as the monsters some of them do. i think a change would be good for this country, and i think that change starts with Obama.

Everybody who enters politics know that whether they are dead or alive that there are going to be changes. This is why some countries make constitution laws that cannot be broken. As for Female or African-American President I would think that changes will come sometime so why don't it happen now.

Since our forefathers apparently had no problem with not giving equal rights to either black or female Americans it's hard to say what they would think or say about it. The important thing is what those of us who are alive today think, and I think it's a disgrace this is the first time we've ever had either a viable and serious African American or female candidate. The fact that this is a "new political turn of events" in 2008 is astounding.

I am not American here and I am not familiar with McCain but of course I know Hillary as the wife of Bill Clinton and Obama as what I've heard that they are the candidates for the presidential elections this November? correct me if I am wrong. Eventhough I am not American there is something to me that I want to choose Obama just for a lame or shallow reason. Since I've known someone from USA that are racist I would choose the black just to know their reactions on how they could handle their feelings of having the black president.
