Detroit Rebuilding Begins | | Well, after another disappointing loss in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Detroit Pistons are rebuilding starting with the firing of their coah Flip Saunders.
Now, don't get me wrong, I think Flip deserves to go. He was given a good team to work with. Not only was the core of players kept but additional players were added to the Pistons' roster to provide youth and energy from off the bench. Flip has no proven winning record in the play-offs and again this showed after losing a Game 6 at their homecourt. A game where Deroit was leading by 10 with a little over 10 minutes left. Not Joe Dumars has said that no player will be considered a sacred cow. The whole team is on the trading block. If you were Joe Dumars, who among the current roster will you be willing to trade and for what?
Let me start the ball rolling. Definitely, I'll trade both Sheed and Prince or Rip. I love Sheed to death. I think he is a very valuable player to any team but his mercurial attitude has brought Deroit to both ups and downs. It's great if he's emotional and he gives the needed energy to his team but when he becomes a distraction that is another story. I think he was clearly a distraction in the Boston series that's why the Pistons fell short again. Also, Sheed has only a year left in his contract so he's the easiest to move among the players in Detroit. As for both Rip and Prince, I think both players play the same type of game and the Pistons will beneit if one of them goes. I've already posted in another forum that one of these palyers will go regardless if the Pistons win this year or not. With them, losing, I think the need to trade either one or perhaps both will be realized sooner than later.
Well, Detroit will need an inside presence so I ll be going for someone in the mold of a Dwight Howard or Tim Duncan. For the past few years, the team never had an inside banger. Sheed, rarely posts and he usually settles for 3s or jumpers while Dice does the same. I think a good inside presence, scorer in the paint, and blocker/rebounder, will compliment the team who already has good outside shooters and penetrators.
That's my take Detroit and basketball fans, I'd like to hear yours.

Flip was a good coach. This current coach has zero experience and may not be about anything at all.
He gets the blame for the Pistons losing when Boston was a much better team. Well, maybe Detroit should have gotten Kevin Garnett.
I knew once Boston got him, they were going to win it all. The Pistons need to get some inside specialist, or else they will loose yet again in the Eastern Conference finals. This will keep happening until they get some superstar player.
Now, this is proof that YOU DO INDEED NEED SUPERSTAR PLAYERS.
You can only go so far with decent players who have good games, but superstar players are good players who have great games.

allen0187 (1596) | 1 year ago | agree with you there.
i think detroit should trade either billups, prince, or rip. i like to think that they trade billups rather than prince or rip. billups has more trade value although you can argue that rip and prince play alike and one is expendable knowing that the other can play the same position. either way, i don't see the pistons doing so well this year. the other eastern teams have gotten better, ie philly has brand, and yet pistons seem to be content with their line-up although, joe dumars ahs said that he'd revamp the team. so far i haven't seen much for me to think that pistons finish better this season.

allen0187 (1596) | 1 year ago | detroit is in talks with kwame brown and hopefully everything pans out right. i think kwame will be a good addition to the team. kwame might be the inside presence the team needs to get back to the nba finals.

allen0187 (1596) | 1 year ago | well, flip is indeed a good coach but look at what he did in detroit. he was given the right players to win the champioship and he messed it up. he at what he did at minnesota, he had the best player in kevin garnett and he had a good bench but still he failed miserably as a coach there as well.
i just think that flip underutilized the players he had and he never were able to call the right plays and make the right decisions needed by the team to win.
just my thoughts.
happy mylotting.
cheers!!!
