Going to the job fair---wish they had rides....

Well, yesterday I went to a job fair advertised on one of the job search websites I frequent. The ad stated some jobs typically represented at their fairs, it was a very lengthy list. It sounded as though there would be dozens of companies with dozens of different types of jobs. When I got there, every single company was just looking for salespeople. It also turned out that the company presenting the job fair was trying to sell some kind of career-coaching service. What a great idea, having a "job fair" to get a captive audience for selling career services to, huh? I will say the people were really nice and did not push too hard, and I did get some free advice out of it, which is not bad. But I feel the whole thing was misleading and mostly a waste of time. Has anybody else had a similar job-hunting experience?

I'm sorry. No, I've never had that happen. At least you got some free advice.

Yes, that's true. Since it didn't cost me anything, and it wasn't too far away, I can't really feel terribly cheated. It was a waste of time more than anything else. But I went with a friend so at least now we laugh about it. lol
