What should we do if there's a fire

I have heard of many cracker factories catching fire I guess they are a dangerous place to work. I guess to get out is the best thing to do, at home I think it is a good idea for everyone to have a fire blanket and or a fire distinguisher...

Hi Lynette, The first thing I do whenever I visit a new building is to check where the exits are as I have been caught in a house fire where I had to get my own and others children out. I was visiting a friend at the time. It is scary. I would immediately leave the building in the calmest safest way I could and then call the emergency services after making sure I had done a head count to make sure all in the building were out safe. If it were a small fire and extinguishers were available I would try to put out myself. Ellie:D

Hello dear lynettebyc. Just this month, we were given a lecture by a fireman about what to do when we face a fire. Well, the first thing to do is to use the fire extinguisher and dial 119 for help. If you cannot control the fire, you need to get out of the building within three minutes with a wet towel to cover your mouth and nose to avoid inhaling the bad smoke that causes death. You know why? Many people die of a big fire because they did not escape from the fire using the right way and taking good use of the valuable short or limited time. Also there is one important thing to mention about: that is, the heavy smoke caused by the fire will soon make one out of consciousness within one minute if he doesn't use a wet towel, but not too wet, dry out the water, because you only need the towel wet to help you breathe instead of taking in the smoke. The smoke inhaled will make one faint and drop onto the ground, the result of which can be easily foretold.
