My Cousin is being soooo Brave!

Firstly let me say I am not that close to my first cousins for various reasons - they are all older than me and/or lived too far away to see them very often.
On the other hand, somehow my brother, sister and I did managed to forge a close relationship with our second cousins (my dad's cousins kids).
A number of years back we were all living in the same city and my brother, sister and cousin were involved in a boat accident. It was bad, everyone was injured (12 kids in total were involved), but only my sister died. At the time my brother felt guilty that it wasn't him who died and it took a long time for him to get past it. My sister and my cousin had been very close and he and I turned to each other for comfort. We'd go out to dinner, get drunk, talk about things, her and life, and it helped us to get through a bad time and to move on.
Nearly 10 years later we are both married with families and living on opposite ends of the world - him in Australia and me in the UK.
Anyway, a month or so back we got an email from his wife to say that he had bowel cancer and he had been operated on and was now due to start his chemo. Apparently this situation has been building since December last year and it took this long for them to share it with the rest of the family.
That hurt! It hurt that it took so long for them let us know - I believe his immediate family knew earlier, but after all we went through together, it would have been nice if he'd let us know a bit sooner! Anyway, I have gotten over that hurt and have been following his journey through his blog and I just have to say that he is one of the bravest people I know!
He has 2 young sons and a wife is all but alone in the world (other than a sister), and together the 2 of them are coping really well through the Chemo and all the stress and strains they are going through - at least from what we can see from his blog posts.
Anyway I just wanted to pay tribute to him and his family and send him hugs and prayers through his hard time.
Thanks for reading this.

Glad you were able to draw on each other for comfort with the loss of your sister. Sending prayers up for your cousin that he has a speedy recovery through this ordeal that he is currently dealing with. Remember God will never take us to anything that he will not bring us through! I find comfort in those words!

Thank you for your kind words and thoughts.
That is not the first time I have heard those words. 'God will never give us anything we can't handle', were the words I was given, but the same meaning I guess. Truer words have yet to be spoken!
Thank you

Thank you for sharing that. Some people can be absolutely amazing, in the face of live changing and even life threatening situations such as this one. Thanks again for taking us all on this journey with your family. They will be in my prayers, as will you.

There may have been a reason to hide it or not share it the way he did. However, I understand your feelings on the matter. The sad part is there are several members of my family that are withdrawn when it comes to illness. Its sad in multiple ways...
I do hope your cousin can get through all of this and that things turn out for the very best.
