my rationale on contestants on wheel of fortune

This observation is only applicable to the Philippine version of Wheel of Fortune: Sometimes the contestants are ridiculously slow in solving the puzzles. Sometimes they mention the same wrong or right letter twice or thrice in a single puzzle. Given, the contestants are nervous. Getting on television for the first time, and in a contest at that, is surely to give one the jitters. But I think that the main reason that they fail to give the right answer right away or that they are not keenly following the puzzle is this: LACK OF FOCUS. What I noticed is that all they care about is clapping and shouting and cheering while the wheel is going on. While I believe it is part of the show that they are directed to clap and cheer while the wheel in turning, they should not neglect the puzzle board. After all, they are supposed to solve it. What happens is, after the wheel stops, they are out of breath and still gathering their wits from all the shouting. I believe they could not even hear themselves speak after shouting so loud. When it is a person's turn, sometimes, he or she fails to say a letter or even think of one. There were even some cases when the buzzer already signaled the end of the time and the contestant has not even uttered a letter! I believe that if the contestants are more concerned with the puzzle board than the wheel, then they would be better able to solve the puzzle and the game would become more competitive. As such, I think the game is for the loudest screamer than a game of wits. Do you agree with my observations?

Well, you can't blame them for being too excited. And why not? Hey, you're on TV and everyone's watching you! Not only on Wheel of Fortune does contestants act like this, it also applies on other game shows too! And yes I agree in contestants' lack of focus. Either they go gaga seeing their favorite hosts (Ang gwapo-gwapo mo Kuya Willie... wtf!?) or they're the other way around, nervous and tensed about them being shown in public television. That may contribute to their lack of focus, affecting their answers (often laughable answers).

yeah totally i agree with your observations, they shout too much they can't even hear kris asking them for a letter and if so they end up giving the wrong one that has been said already twice and not present on the board...sometimes i can say how dumb...if they will show again wheel of fortune i hope they will choose a more smarter contestants that can surpass the pressure of being on the television and smart enough to solve the puzzles.

I've never seen the Fillipino version of Wheel O Fortune, but I just had to jump in to say that I have seen the Danish one. It's interesting that they have Wheel Of Fortunate all over the world. I wonder what the show is like in countries hat don't use the Latin alphabet.

I do agree with your observations. What is really funny is that in most cases, everyone except the person spinning the wheel already knows the answer. Yeah, most of the contestants are ridiculously slow in solving the puzzle. I believe that these people either do not really know the answer or, they simply can't concentrate with all the noise in the studio.
