why are the simson yellow

Ever since i was little i was wathcing the simpsons. also ever since then ive been wondering why are they all yellow? it doesnt make sense. I mean theyre all causcasians right (except apoo). Does anyone know why they artisr decided to make their skin colour yellow? please help i have a bet witha friend for the reason and i wantto know that answer before the bet is made so i win. :P

I saw an interwiev with matt once who said he wanted the characters to look diffrent than most cartoons. That is why he choose to make them yellow, I guess there just ins't a substitue color for other races so he left them the same color.

When I was little, and The Simpsons first came out, I asked my mother the same question. Same thing with "why do The Simpsons only have four ingers on each hand, and four toes on each foot?"
She told me it was sot that really smal children could understand that they were just pretend, and not real humans.
