Don't we owe them something? | | Let's talk about our national heroes. We Filipinos have Jose Rizal as our national hero and there have been a lot of movies produced depicting his life, love, his heroic endeavors and his martyrdom. We are proud of him because he inspired many other heroes in the past to fight for our independence in the eighteen hundreds. He was known for being the author of the two books namely Noli Me Tangere and it's second part, El Filibusterismo. He was a man of superior intelligence, a poet, painter, opthalmologist, novelist and a lot more. He could fluently speak 21 languages. How about you? I am also curious about what other people may say about their national heroes. I only have a few foreign heroes in mind and Mahatma Gandhi of India is one of those. I appreciate what he did for India and I loved the movie produced in the early 80's that featured his life story. His role was played by Ben Kingsley and he really looked like Gandhi. What can you say about your national hero? Come on guys, I guess once in a while we have to pay tribute to them in our own little way. They are not supposed to be only things in the past. Let's not forget who they were and how they made a difference in our lives now as a nation.
