Does addidas actually stand for anything

Adidas is actually a portmanteau (A word concocted by fusing different words into one.) of the shoe company's founder Adolf Dassler, whose nickname was Adi(Dassler).

Growing up as a child adidas was what I wore. I played soccer, so for me it was all day I dream about soccer. But yeah, I had heard of sports too. But I prefer the soccer version.

I have watched this in a featured documentary film in television. Adidas came from the name of it's maker and originator, Adolph (Adi) Dasler (Das). Actually he started this with his brother (I forgot his name) and they have started designing and making shoes for soccer player which is the most popular sports then in Europe. But envy and rift between the 2 brothers and their family had resulted in their break out. His brother had put up the company "Puma" which had become the rival and direct competitor of Adidas during those years. This rivalry had continuous up to this day though the owners had been changed.

well i think adidas is just a name. it probably does not denote any special thing. it may be the combination of the opening members if it is a joint venture. or it may have been linked to it's place of origin. last but not the least, just a name without much significance.
