This is such a tragic thing that everyone here is still numb thinking about. You can read the story at http://www.ketv.com/news/16579276/detail.html Two 13 year old boys and two 14 year old boys were killed in the tornado. They were at the camp for a leadership conference. We had 12 tornados with one going through the boy scout camp. I cried as I listened to some of the boys recount the experience on our local news. Some of the boys set to work assisting those that were injured before any response team was able to get out there. These young boys have been called heros as there could have been more deaths had they not acted quickly to assist their fellow boyscouts. One boy even told about how they were in the building and their leader told them to get under the tables. He watched as the leader went to shut the door and was sucked up by the tornado. Then the young boy himself felt it flip him over and start pulling him in. He yelled for help and another scout grabbed his hand and told him it was going to be ok and held onto him until it passed. Parents heard of the tornado on the news and they rushed to the site to find their children but couldn't get in there right away so they all waited to find out the fate of their child. I can not imagine what they all were feeling while they waited. Such a horrible thing for these boys and families to have gone through. Please keep them all in your prayers.

I saw one of the boys on the news talking about it and he definitely looked like he was in shock. He was pretty brave to be talking about it at all. I used to live in an area that had tornadoes and I was always in fear of them every time there was a thunderstorm. I'm glad I don't have to live with them now, though we have fires and earthquakes where I live. Did they ever find that scout leader that was taken in the tornado?

When I was a kid, tornadoes seemed to come all of the sudden. They could predict thunderstorms and would often have a tornado watch, but they couldn't predict or tell whether there was a tornado on the ground without a spotter. Earthquakes almost never cause any damage unless they're severe and those are pretty rare.

I was watching the local weather when the report came through that this happened. I live about 60 miles away from there, so we heard about it almost immediately after the tornado went through there. It's sad that it happened, but the weather was terrible that day. There were tornadoes popping up all over the state here in Iowa. There was one tornado that started about 30 minutes away from me and ended up about 15 miles away. Luckily, it didn't get any farther than that.

That is something that will take alot of time for those kids to get over. I am glad some of them jumped right into action. I am not sure what I would do if I seen someone get sucked into a twister. I am not sure that my mind would be working right. I am surprised that they kept it together. Hopefully this will make them stronger people.

May God rest their souls in peace. It is sad to die young.

It's really tragic. My heart truly goes out to the family and friends, and the communities and people impacted by this. Even though I do not live in that state, and do not know the boys or their families, my heart broke when I heard. At least we can hold comfort in the fact that they are with God and at peace. The families will be in my heart and my prayers. God bless.
