IS the windows starting or the computer restarts without booting.
try starting it in safe mode and remove the startup programs. do a scan with hijackthis and fix the errors.

DOES your computer show any error message before restart?
IF you are sure that you aren't having any hardware problem then resetting the bios will do the trick.
To reset the bios, PULL down the battery present on the motherboard. this will set the bios to default settings.
an improper change in bios may have lead to the problem

this may happen because of the new software what u have installed..
if u have installed any new software u uninstall that....u can un install the software by going to safe mode...just press f8 when u press power button ..it gives the option to go to the safe mode..select safe mode and it will take u in...
nd u uninstal any of the software ..if it is not the problem ...u still go to the safe mode and go to help and support in start menu and there use the system restore button and restore ur system to the date were ur system worked proprly....

Well, I can tell you why (generally) this happens. I don't know your background, but perhaps you remember the old "blue screen of death" (BSoD) in Windows NT. One of the more notable things about Windows XP was that you didn't see that anymore. Well, the reason you don't see it anymore is because MS modified a setting in Windows so that by default, when a critical failure occurs that would generate a BSoD instead automatically reboots the computer (since that was the most common solution anyway).

The problem is that if you get a critical error on startup you're sunk.

The first thing you should do is try booting in safe mode. This may or may not work, it depends on what is causing the problem.

If you can get into safe mode, right-click on your My Computer icon, and select Properties. On the System Properties page, go to the Advanced tab. Locate the Startup and Recovery section, near the bottom of the page, and press the Settings button. On the Startup and Recovery page, under "System failure", uncheck "Automatically restart". Then close the Startup and Recovery settings and the System Properties page, and reboot the computer into normal mode. What this will do is show you the blue screen when your system fails rather than automatically rebooting the computer.

The blue screen may contain a lot of information, mostly hex numbers. What you're most interested in however is the file identified as the source of the error. It will probably be an exe or dll file, and if you're lucky it will be part of a program that was recently installed. It may not be obvious which program the file is part of, but Google can help you figure it out. If the problem is caused by an isolated program, you can probably fix it by booting back into safe mode and simply uninstalling the offending program. If, on the other hand, it's a corrupted system file or something, you could be in a bit more trouble and may need more help than I can offer.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

well can i have some more information about what is happening to your computer like when you boot your computer, does it still load until after the windows logo with a loading bar under it?

if your answer is yes
- then does it continue until the log-on screen?

if your answer is no
- then there might be a problem on the power supply of the cpu. try to reinsert the main power to the outlet, that might do the trick. if not then try to open the cpu, if you dont know and have not done it back then, then you will need a professional to do it, but if you can then try to reinsert the ram card, anything that was inserted at the agp slots of your motherboard (the videocard, modem, lan card etc.) hope it might do the trick. if not then there might be a problem to the cpu's main power supply. One of the reasons of power supply problem is too much hardware installed to the cpu, like having 2 or more cd/dvd drives installed on a power supply that can only support 1 drive. Another power supply problem is that it got hit by a fluctuating electric current from your outlet. Maybe if you dont have a UPS or even an AVR with surge supressor then your power supply and other components in the motherboard are in danger of fluctuating electricity, which can result to faulty electric current flowing in your cpu.

--------
does it continue until the log-on screen?

if your answer is yes
- can you still log on? if you can then the problem might have temporarily disappeared, expect it to manifest again for some time

if your answer is no
- then there might be a problem STILL on the power supply of the cpu.

---------
another thing that i want to know is when you said that the computer restarts again and again, does it automatically restart or does it go to the process of properly restarting of a computer? because if it does restart in a way that it restarts in the right process (i.e. screen shows, logging off-saving your settings-shutting down) then from what i read it is somehow a defense mechanism of the pc to restart properly in order to prevent damage incurred when a pc is suddenly turned of or restarted. It also means that the power supply cant generate enough electricity to power everything running on the cpu so it restarts properly to prevent further damage.
---------

Another important thing that i like to know...
what kind of operating system are you using? because if you are not using windows xp then all the things that I have said might be useless, specially if you're using vista, since vista is different from xp and im not running my computer with vista but rather with windows xp.

Hope to hear.
