Why facebook so famous? what makes it famous than other comunity site?

I always wandering, why its so booming, people still have many other community site, that maybe not too different with facebook. Is there anything that special with it?

I do have a facebook account and im aware that its a popular online community website now.Until now,im not really sure how it goes on,im just not that interested in knowing how it works.There are applications to set and its like a fake one.To have something different in the cyber world.To feel out of reality.Get gift send from others.A lots to play on....
And thanks to the one response above..i just know that there could have chats in there.Haha,i've yet make full use of my account.
