Best Dogs Around: The Golden Retriever

One of the best pure breds around, and maybe I am completely biased in this assessment, since I had one for eleven years or so, but golden retrievers are the friendliest and sweetest dogs created. My dog Vanilla, who was a female, would actually play with my cat Jason, they would wrestle and she would grab him by the nape of the neck, but wouldn't hurt him, it was like she knew how far to take things. They loved each other. For some reason a lot of people grow up fearing dogs, especially larger ones, which is understandable especially if there was a particular instance in their past, but although Vanilla was a sweet dog, she didn't have many boundaries, she would go right up to anyone and stick her nose in their crotch for the most part, but in all the years I had her she never once bit me or tried to hurt me. Although she loved her rocks, she'd chase large rocks and bring them back. She had this game where she would drop the rock and then try to put it back in her mouth when you reached for it, I was about fifteen maybe, but I remember it clearly, I got my hand stuck in her mouth and she would not let go, it was like a vise. I was screaming and crying and she didn't really understand what was going on I don't think, I didn't want to hit her, but eventually i kind of nudged her a bit with my body, either that or she eventually let go. But they are sweeter than pink, I can't say they'd be good guard dogs, because I never knew Vanilla to not like a crotch she sniffed, but she was an amazing smart girl.
