Is it Graffiti or Art

A graffiti plastered wall has drawn some double takes from motorists and legal questions about tagging done with the owners consent, in a small town The eight foot high fence was put up as a sound barrier which stretches about 175 feet, most of the images are graffiti tags - the artist signatures. There's also a caterpillar and a tree,But the fire Marshal who enforces the bylaw, said the wall falls into the gray area of the law. since its not offensive and was created with the owners permission, she said the fire service isn't about to fine the owner.no one has complained either The owner said the only contract he's had with the police is when an officer asked one of the artists if he had permission to paint. The police said their only concern is in the traffic, which slows down to look at the wall. There is nothing raciest or sexist on the wall should the owner have to remove the graffiti or be charged or should it be classed as art

Unfortunately the city has the final say in this matter. I know where I live lots of restaurants, commercial businesses and even private residences get in trouble and have to change the exterior of their building for things like the color of their roof or the material their walls are made of... if their building stands out for whatever reason. And if the traffic is a major concern and it does prove to be a problem, the owner may have to take it down... even if isn't offensive or anything.

In bigger cities, it is common to see a mural project done by the area youth! It adds beauty and some history to an otherwise blighted area! It also discourages people from tagging the wall in any other way, which can really look ugly!
