I have yet to have a problem with any pirated dvds that I've borrowed from friends or bought. But I prefer not to get those as sometimes the quality of the viewing is not as clear as the original dvd would be.

YUp, I have experienced that myself.
Because of mass production, the quality of the product was affected.

Pirated DVDs are available everywhere, nowadays. Some DVDs definitely affect your player. I just don't go for pirated ones, anyhow.

I don't rent DVDs, I borrow them from the library. Ours gets the new releases in just about at the same time as the video stores. And I don't have to return them the next day. I can keep them for at least a week. Much more convenient.
