Ask her to list down the stuffs she need for her birthday and start from there.Or better use other people to secure the things she wanted, so that it has a little surprise.

What about making her something? If she liked the coloring books and reading materials, maybe she would like a word search puzzle that you made just for her. You could even do several about subjects she loves and make a little book. For example you could do puzzles about animals if she really likes them, or dolls, or just little girls. You could use colored paper and make it really pretty. I recently did an article about making a word search puzzle. I can give you the link if you'd like, but you have to ask according to the rules...or that's the way I understand it anyhow.
