What better way to celebrate your team getting a touchdown or hitting a grand slam then having your dog give you a high five. This trick is easy to teach and your dog can learn it in less than a half hour.
How-To Steps
Step 1:
Start by having your dog shake. If your dog does not shake, just touch the back of her paw and say shake. Once your dog starts to offer her paw, turn your hand up so your hand is facing your dog (see video).
Step 2:
Start saying "high five" while holding your hand up. When your dog hits your hand with her paw, quickly say good dog and reward with a treat.
Step 3:
When your dog starts to hit your hand with her paw, start to slightly raise your hand higher and higher.
Step 4:
Keep raising your hand until you can stand and your dog jumps up to high five your hand. Reward your dog as soon as she does.
Tips & Warnings:
* Make sure you give your dog a lot of treats and praise as she is learning this trick.
* Gradually raise your hand; if your dog doesn't jump up to high five your hand, move your hand lower until she can reach it.
