Well I vaguely remember trying to ride a two-wheeled bike around my grandparents' lawn (not on the pavement as they didn't want me to hurt myself when I fell off!) It was an old brown bike that used to belong to my cousins and I remember it had really thick tyres! You just brought that memory back to me, lol!
I honestly don't remember how long it took, but I think I must have been about eight. Soon after, brimming with confidence I borrowed our neighbour's bike and rode it down the steep hill we used to live on. It was then that I realised that no-one had taught me how to stop! (I guess learning on the lawn, there was no need for brakes...) I ended up crashing into a parked car. But luckily neither myself, the car, nor the bike were hurt
