What state do you think The Simpsons would be in? |
I dont think they ever specify what Springfield The Simpsons live in right? But I just have a general feeling that they would be in Ohio or Virginia or somewhere in the east I dont really know why though. I guess it doesnt matter because its just a show and it will never be known. What do you think though and what reasons do you have? Or maybe just have a guess?:P

1. xboxboy (1413) | 4 months ago | no idea! but i do know why they chose the name 'springfield'. springfield is the only name in the US to have a town in every state. so i guess they are delibrately being vague.

DarkDancer (566) | 4 months ago | I believe that the Springfield that "The Simpsons" exist in is a nexus point connecting all the Springfirlds in the United States. They literally exist in every state in the union....;)

| myrustydog (38) | 4 months ago | The states that do not have a Springfield are: Alaska, Arizona, Connecticut, Hawaii, Kansas, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Utah, Washington & Wyoming. This is according to Mapquest. Just some FYI.

grunge_avenged (223) | 4 months ago | Hah interesting comments everyone. Though, it seems that you would be incorrect xboxboy because apparently there is not a Springfield in quite a few states. But yeah, well over half of the states have a Springfield so thats a good point, that it appeals to a large audience of people and they are for the most part an average American family (with their quirks of course hah).

2. Piscesmoon (1435) | 4 months ago | They answer that question in The Simpsons Movie. Ned and Bart are standing on a hill and Ned tells Bart that if he looks closely, he will see the 4 states that border Springfield. The 4 states are Maine, Nevada, Ohio and Kentucky.

grunge_avenged (223) | 4 months ago | Hah well thanks for that .. I did see The Simpsons Movie but I do not remember that part. Thats pretty funny actually because thats obviously not possible. If anyone recalls, there is also that episode where there is Springfield on a map and then "West Springfield" which is the size of Texas lol. Also, on one episode there is a map of all the Krusty Burgers and they point somewhere off of the coast of Virginia of some kind of Krusty Burger or oil rig or something Im not sure but maybe that is irrelevant. Just some thoughts:P

Piscesmoon (1435) | 4 months ago | I wrote the states down when they said them in the movie, hoping to finally know the answer but was disappointed when I looked in the atlas and saw that Nevada and Maine are nowhere near Ohio and Kentucky. Looks like it will always be a mystery.

grunge_avenged (223) | 4 months ago | Lmao youre kidding me right? Unless you are not from the States yourself, then that is really sad that you did not know that Nevada is not near Ohio or Maine. None of those states are near eachother, except Ohio and Kentucky do border eachother. I am actually Canadian and I still knew that lol but like I said maybe you are from Europe or something I dont know:P

Piscesmoon (1435) | 4 months ago | Not much reason to know where the states of the USA are, g_a, when you live in Australia. It's not something we are taught in school here. I wonder how many from your neck of the woods know our states and capitals?
| |
grunge_avenged (223) | 4 months ago | Lol yeah I kind of had a feeling that maybe you werent American. I looked at your profile after my response and realized it said you were from Australia and felt bad (even though I said it would be sad IF you were American). I am not actually American, I am Canadian incase you did not know:P But I actually do know Australian states .. I will name them from what I remember (and I am not googling them I can assure you): New South Wales, Queensland, Northern Australia, Western Australia, Southern Australia (Not sure if its called those exactly but something along the lines of that .. and I believe those states constitute basically most of Australia that is of desert), and I believe Tasmania is part of Australia though I am not completely sure. Am I missing any? Im pretty sure the capital of Australia is Canbera/Canberra and I believe that Sydney is the capital of Queensland or possibly New South Wales. I also know that the population of Australia is somewhere near 20 million people. I am a bit of a geography nut as you can see .. And I did not learn this in school (except maybe the part about Australia's pop.). Sorry to any Simpsons fans reading this lol.

Piscesmoon (1435) | 4 months ago | No worries, grunge_avenged. You were pretty close on Australian states. You only missed Victoria and were slightly wrong on a couple of others (South Australia and Northern Territory) and, yes, Sydney is the capital of NSW. My American geography may not be too good but the Simmos have a lot of fans down under. Actually, I really liked the episode where the Simmos came to Australia - the drains running backwards episode and they made us out to all be idiots. "Bullfrogs? I would have called them Chaswazzas myself."
| |
grunge_avenged (223) | 4 months ago | Ah yes Victoria how could I forget! Oh well:P Oh yeah riight territory ok well that makes a lot more sense then lol. Is there a West Australia territory or just a north and south??:P Btw when you say Simmos you do mean Simpsons right? Lol just sounds kind of weird to me haha^^ I am not too sure if I have even seen the episode where they go to Australia to be quite honest.

Piscesmoon (1435) | 4 months ago | Seems quite common for us Aussies to call the Simpsons the "Simmos". It must just be the Australian way of shortening everything. For example, if your name was Murray, you would probably be called "Muzza" over here, Barry would be "Bazza" and so on. You haven't seen the episode where the Simpsons had to come to Australia? Bart was ringing people reverse charges to ask whether their drains run clockwise or anticlockwise. Because of a huge bill he rang up for an Australian family, his punishment was to come to Australia and have his butt kicked by the Australian Prime Minister wearing a giant boot. Lots of hilarilty with Homer jumping in and out of the USA Embassy, fascinated that he could be on Australian soil one minute and American the next. The whole episode was pretty funny and made all Australians out to be country hicks (probably hillbillies to you). Bart did end up mooning everyone to get his butt kicked but had "don't tread on me" painted across it. Western Australia and South Australia are both states but the Northern Territory and Canberra (Australian Capital Territory) are both territories rather than states. I think it has something to do with how reliant they are on the Commonwealth government for funding. Isn't it great! You started a Simmos discussion and ended up with a geography lesson.

grunge_avenged (223) | 4 months ago | Haahaha thats funny it seems like Australians really love "z's":P Oh by the way, I am pretty sure I have seen that episode actually lol. It sounds very VERY farmiliar! As far as the Australian geography, that is pretty confusing. The fact that there are states within territories lol and that the capitol has its own territory .. Though Washington DC (USA) is its own state really so I guess its not so strange. But in Canada we have 10 provinces and 3 "territories" and we dont have provinces within territories so I do think its fairly strange:P

3. bowtieguy (5273) | 4 months ago | My guess was that they lived in springfeild illinois. There are so many out there though it would be hard to know for sure, unless matt were to tell which is not likley to happen any time soon.

| |
grunge_avenged (223) | 4 months ago | Yeah good point. I would also think it would be something like Illinois or somewhere on the east coast. Im not completely sure but I think they had the premiere of The Simpson Movie in Springfield, VT or somewhere over there. They had some kind of competition and they chose VT because of votes or whatever. I dont think they chose it because that is actually where it took place but still kind of interesting.

5. meeandnotyou (922) | 4 months ago | On the Behind the Laughter episode, they call the simpsons a Northern Kentucky family, so that would be where.... NORTHERY KUNTUCKY! When you take all of the elements and try to peice it all togather then you get a canundrum. But since Northern Kuntucky is the only difinative statement of location rather than all of the statements to confuse, then I am leaning to believe Northern Kuntucky. Have a great day!!
