Okay another awwww story. I heard this on the news last night about a large dog, a Rottweiller to be exact named J2 in Idaho, who has adopted a week old lamb named Cinnamon, when the mother rejected it. According to the story the pair have been inseparable and the Rottweiller won't let the little lamb out of it's sight and is very protective of the lamb. You can see the video and story here http://abcnews.go.com/search?searchtext=rottweiller%20adopts%20a%20lamb&type= You can also see another video about the story here http://uk.truveo.com/Lamb-loves-Rottweiler-dog/id/2867428581 As the second video suggests, most large dogs would prefer to eat a nice juicy lamb rather than being a surrogate parent to it. I can't help thinking how great animals can be with one another despite such differences...wouldn't it be great is us humans were as compassionate to other humans despite out differences?

Cute story wasn't it? Gee even my two kitties don't always get along..sort of a case of sibling rivalry and wanting their "mom's" attention...LOL

It would be wonderful, if people could be as loving and caring as animals, but I don't think I will ever see it in my lifetime, not on a grand scale anyway.

yes montreal police and firefighters were right there helping in 911 too, yes people do help with all kinds of world calamities, but day to day they are fighting and killing each other.

I think only maybe a major world wide catastrophe would bring people together more. I remember shortly after the 9/11 incident, and don't forget I live not too far from Manhattan people wasso helpful, kind and generous for a long time afterwards....then unfortunately reverted to their "old" ME selves again

Oh Pye-that is so lovely-there are quite a few animals that become surrogate mothers-it really puts us humans to shame-we are just a cruel race of people-nor=t meaning everyone of course-but amimals are so much more loving and sensitive to these things than we are-bright glessings littleowl

Does make you wonder...which is the more compassion and intelligent species...mankind or the animal world?

It is really sweet to hear stories like this, it is funny how animals do this. Even though there are so many differences between them they sometimes seem to stick together and look out for each other.

Oh how cute! Isn't if funny how some animals just know when another needs them? I know a lot of people who could take a lesson from that big ol' dog!

Yes I think us "intelligent" humans could learn a lot in general from the animal world

Hello Pyewacket, That was what I was going say, human beings are not that compassionate to one another, sometime I wonder if we the superior race. Regards Tamarafireheart.

I often question the "intelligence" of the human race myself..sometimes think animals have more intelligence and compassion

I saw that story the other night. I thought it was so sweet, especially since Rottweillers get such a bad reputation. Then the newscaster reporting it had to get all smarmy and say he bets the dog is just waiting until the lamb fattens up so the dog can eat it. Good grief, can we just not have good news and leave it at that?

What a nice video. I am so surprised that the Rottweiller became Cinnamon's surrogate parent. I sure wouldn't mess around with Cinnamon with J2 around. hahaha

J2 would probably bite a person's head off if they messed around with Cinnamon

That is so sweet. I agree with you about humans being more compassionate. Looks like if humans would just stop long enough and look around we might learn a thing or two. I am glad that I have compassion.

Maybe one day, people will realize more of the similarities rather than the differences between each other...children do that..it's only when most people get older do they develop their prejudices.

Hi pyewacket! That is amazing! I think we humans can learn so much from J2. It is amazing a dog can give us a lesson or two on love and caring. I really hope that we can be more compassionate to our fellowmen despite our differences. Take care and God bless!
