Words of Wisdom - which on to believe?

Hi everyone! According to a book entitled "Everything I need to know about life, I learned from Noah's Ark" which was written anonymously - Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark. According to Mother Theresa - Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow is yet to come. We have only today. Let us begin. Do you see any conflict between these two words of wisdom? How would you explain it? Which one would you practice?
