The Devil Wears Prada - Would u give up ur life for fashion?

I haven't seen the movie but, from what you've said about it, I think I can answer you.

No way! I have never been a "Type A" personality. I never wanted power, money, prestige, etc. My family has always come first... always!

My mother raised me saying, "You can do better." So, I have always attempted to "do better", even though I know what I do is good enough. However, I never went overboard with it. I never wanted to "climb the corporate ladder."

I've seen what that does to people and, no thanks! My husband and I moved to the mountains of Virginia last year to get away from people like that. We had lived in a community in Maryland that was comprised mainly of "upper middle class". Those people were always talking about their money and how they were going to spend it. They got upset to the point of needing medication if a bird pooped on their cars!

Nope, that kind of life is not for me. Even if I was handed a job like that without having to sell my soul, I would turn it down.

yeah, i wouldn't give my entire life for my job.,i believe people are entitled to have their social life as well,.and for us not to feel stress all the time.,"devil wears prada" is a cool movie to see.,i like that movie so much! you'll learn a lot from that movie.

There is no way I could fgive up my personal life to be at the beck and call of somebody who is so horrible - I mean I wouldn't even do it for somebody nice as I don't have enough time to myself now, never mind if it was a more intense job!! lol

Funny movie, Meryl Streep take on the character was convincing. Although I haven't read the book, so I wouldn't really know. Anyway, as for giving up your life for fashion--no way. Where's the fun in fashion without life. But i think for Anne Hathaway's character it's more of a career move. I'm not saying you should give up your friends and family for a job. I guess you can always find a way to balance things. The way she adapted to her job for me comes across as dedication. There are people who like giving a 100% on the job always, and that's what she did. She just had a problem setting her priorities straight. But she did so soon enough,

well in fact i have been in a job where my boss was not that much of a devil but yes the job was painful. i had quit the job in a months time as i could not go ahead with it. i was losing out on my friends since i used to be left with no time. it was just not worth.

Did Anne Hathaway give up her entire life in this movie? Did she compromise her morals and her personal life irretrievably, or did she merely adapt her previously-held views to enable her to gain a foothold in the battlefield that is the world of work? By the end of the film, the character had made a positive impact upon her colleagues and her boss, and had established herself in a field which is notoriously difficult to break into. The film is a modern-day fairy-tale which manages to entertain whilst at the same time enabling the viewer to vicariously experience the less-than-attractive side of the business world. Anne does manage to maintain her integrity whilst holding her own in the dog-eat-dog world of fashion journalism and emerges at the end retaining her old values and about to take up the job she really wants.
