What Value is there in searching for life in Mars?

I see Americans and other rich nation spending billions of dollars looking for life on mars and other planets-what justification do we have for being so wasteful? For instance, Mars doesnt support human habitaion-its too cold-why should we waste so much here instead of protection the earth from climate change!

i don't have any idea what they are trying to find some life on this planet. anyways, i think it is really good to know what is on there so that we will be able to enrich our knowledge. as we know that man's quest for knowledge is really unstoppable. we keep asking for the truth and for what is there beyond our knowledge. and so it is really great to know what can we see on this planet. hopefully man can live here if that is possible to happen.
