i'd like to hear from our native british and american friends regarding the above-mentioned question. which phrase do u usually use, sit an exam, take an exam, or write an exam? i accidentally ran into wordreference.com and saw this question, and put it here to start a discussion. the following are some people's opinions: 1. in fact it's true that most exams are done sitting down, but pratical tests like in athletics or workshops definitely aren't. i'd rather use take an exam than sit an exam.---Cracher Jack 2. interesting point. i'd say 'sit an exam' is one way of talking about the subject, but isn't required. in fact i think it's a little formal: most people would probably say 'i've got an exam'. 'taking an exam sounds just fine. too' for non-written exams.---tom 3. Americans do not sit exams. we take them. i think canadians sit or write them. lol---kelly lol, what's ur choice, tell me plz, thx a lot in advance. lol
