Someone will one day work on reverse engineering for your webcam and use it to watch you. I hope your not doing anything you shouldn't in front of the computer! heh

I agree. There are alot of useful things that can be done with Security Cameras. My problem is that while you can use a knife to cut open a box or cut up a good steak it can and is used to kill people.

Cameras are no different. They will be used against us as well. Combine them with computers and machines and you have the ability to do almost anything. Very scary in my opinion

Hi again! The subject certainly touches your feelings I can se. And you are right about the thing that everything can be abused. Sadly it is so. But I do not think one should focus too much on abuse, it is not good for ones "soul".

I too love my country. The government worries me. The internet was made public and exploded. Now we are communicating with people we would never have had the chance to meet. One day there will be subscription services to watch the webcams of the unsuspecting. Better watch those terms of service agreements you check that you have read on websites before you install that next free program. It may target your webcam with your permission.

Not necessarily big brother. What about anyone with programming capabilities who could add a little line in there terms of service contract saying that you agree to allow them to control your webcam (if one is connected) with there program and forgo copyright of the information they obtain using it? I know it is a stretch but there are some freaky people out there in this world.

Well it deffinately fits the whole internet world, i mean if they can make a "bug" to eat your files, who's to say they cant flip your camera on and watch whatever is in view, i mean holy cow, lol I am already making it a habit to leave my camera face down when I am not intending on using it, everything makes sense, and yes i think they are that smart. Scarry but so true!! Just be carefull, and not be so trusting, i mean we wouldnt just let a person off the street walk in and take a nap, right.

speaking of someone just walking in off the street and taking a nap. That actually happened to me about 10 years ago. My brother and I lived together and each had different friends etc. One day I came home and there was a woman sleeping on the couch. I was quiet and did not wake her. Didn't want to be rude to my brothers guest.

My brother came home an hour later and asked me who was sleeping on the couch. I said that I thought you knew her. We stared at each other in disbelief and then went and woke the woman up. Seems she was homeless and found the door unlocked and decided to take a nap. She got the boot rather quickly.
