What Are Your Childhood Memories on Playing In The Rain?

I would really envy children in our neighborhood before when it rained. Those were the times that children like I had been so many years way back in the past, would ran and play on smaller streets in our place under the very refreshing downpour. I and my siblings were never allowed by my parents to play in the rain for the reason of safety. My mom was just afraid that there might be thunderstorms or lightning-- that we might be hit with it, she had fears in vehicles that might accidentally run us over when we play, or she was afraid that we might be getting colds for too much exposure to rain. Before, I thought my mom was just being unreasonable depriving me one of the simple joys of childhood; she was just being over-protective instilling in my young mind those fears and inhibitions just to keep me safe. When I was still a child, I felt sad because I was seeing and feeling the difference between my life and that with other children my age. Now that I am a parent, although I am also seeing and understanding the things my mom were doing before, I come to realize that children need to enjoy sometimes and in moderation the simple joys of childhood--- Playing in the rain is one wonderful experience for a child that if missed during childhood years, it can never be enjoyed when he grows up (a grown-up can't just go out on the street and play in the rain, right? Onlookers would think you're crazy) Today, I am allowing my children to play in the rain but with me to constantly monitor how they've been. They are really loving the idea and enjoying the experience. How about you, what are your childhood memories on playing in the rain? Happy posting!

I remember how much I loved playing in the rain. It would always start off as a sprinkle and build to big drops of water. This one time I was just shooting the basketball around and it started to rain and I didn't stop. I enjoyed the feel of it sprinkling on my skin. My friend was about to leave and then it started to pour. I opened up the garage so that she could get under and out of the rain. She thought I was crazy because I kept shooting the ball around. She gave into it and came out. We were having a blast, bouncing the ball back in forth, pushing it as hard as we could to the ground in order to make a big splash. We even noticed in the sky where lightning. I remember it so well, it wasn't a white color it was a violet color with a little touch of pink. I was so amazed. We played until our fingers turned into prunes. It was so great playing in the rain.
