What does friendship mean to you?

Friendship is very important to me. I know the difference between true friends and those who are merely companions and acquaintances who may call themselves friends, but when the chips are down, just are not there when you need them. What is a friend? What qualities do you want to find in the people you call your friends? Is the word "friend" used to freely? Have these online social networks cheapened the word "friend" to mean something less than it should? Oh, and what about this question--what does it mean when a person you are intimate with is just your friend? Shouldn't that kind of relationship be more than just a friendship? So, with people using the word "friend" in so many different ways today, just what does "friend" or "friendship" mean to you?

To me a friend is someone that knows everything about me and still loves me and are there for me even for my flaws. I look for people that are pretty much laid back and not high strung. I have close friends and then casual friends. there are different levels of friendships I think. as for the one question being intimate with just your friend should it be called something else? Friendship with benefits? lol

I think that friendship is really important because you always have someone to talk to no matter what. Friendship is having someone around for you all the time when you're down in the blues, someone who knows when something is wrong and knows when you need someone to talk or knows when you just want to be left alone for a while. Friendship is the best thing you could have with someone.
