I'm wearing a Chinese dress just like the one in the picture for my wedding but I'm wondering if I can wear a tiara with it. All your input will be great appreciated. Thank you very much.

Why not? I think it would still look good and regal. But I suggest that you wear just a small, discreet tiara since I consider it to be more classy. I love the dress though. Best wishes to you!

Thanks. Yea, I was really worried I might be overdressed with a tiara or that it might look inappropriate. But thanks to the affirmation. I surely will be on the lookout for the most simple tiara today. Oh my I've only got a few days left and I'm still going to look for a tiara. Anyway, wish me luck.

If you are Chinese and are wearing the dress for traditional reasons, I will tell you what my friends have done. A tiara is not a part of a traditional Chinese wedding. My Chinese friends wore 2 dresses. one wore a traditional western white dress, tiara, veil and all, for the actual ceremony. She then changed into the red Chinese wedding dress for the reception. I had another friend who did it the other way around. My friend who wore the dress to her reception said that she loved having the big princess dress for the ceremony, but was very happy to be in a much more comfortable dress to dance at the reception.

I am not Chinese but I love Chinese dress. I am having a civil wedding here in the UK and a formal one in the Philippines. Thanks for the input. It's really helpful. I actually thought of that--tiara is not a part of wedding attire. That is why I wanted to ask it here before I make any move. But I'm just thinking, can we not tresspass traditional borders? Well, I'm not trying to insist on what I like. But I really want all your honest opinion on this one. And thanks for yours. Makes me look at both sides.

Sure, you can break tradition. DO whatever you want. I did. My father did not walk me down the aisle on my wedding day, one of my closest male friends did, and I wouldn't take that moment back for anything in the world.

I think you can. You just need to try some tiara-models and pick one that suits your dress the most.

I don't see why you couldn't wear a tiara. I think it would be beautiful with that dress, actually. The dress alone is beautiful! Is it a formal wedding? Tiara's are usually worn at more formal occasions and, if that's the case, I would even suggest a tiara with that dress! It might be destiny that you wear one! I just "stumbled" across this post today and literally "stumbled" across 2 tiaras just yesterday while shopping! I was noticing how beautiful they were, but I would have no place to wear one. Congratulations on your wedding! I wish you all the best!

So you think it might be a destiny that I might wear one? I like that. Delights me immensely :-D Grazie!

I don't know much about Chinese weddings, but I can onestly ay the dress looks fantastic! I am not very traditional, so were I in your position, I'd wear the tiara, if it was what I really wanted to wear. Best of luck on your wedding.

I think a tiara would look wonderful with this pretty dress. I don't see why not. That is a very pretty dress by the way.

I am actually experimenting on the photos like putting a head with a tira on that dress and it does look amazing.

I know this is from a male perspective but what the hey! lol. A Chinese dresses beauty lies in its simplicity in my opinion. So if you were to add a tiara to the mix; as long as the tiara is under rather then overstated I don't see any issues and believe it would be a very beautiful addition. (I am still trying to work out what has happened to "going offline to prepare for the wedding" Jemina!!!! lol) This site is VERY addictive yes?

Thanks for the very handy advice, James. I get the picture. I just couldn't verbalize it and you just did for me. Anyway, it's not that I'm getting offline but I just can't get online much because I have other things to do now like making a bouquet and the list for the guests and stuff like that. Apart from being addictive, this site is very helpful and useful indeed as long as we use it for valid enquiries just like mine LOL! and for sensible discussions too.

Something dainty with diamonds and gold would be fine I think. Nothing too big though because that would be a little over the top I feel. Is your fiance Asian too?

It's your wedding, if you want to wear peacock feathers and neon green high tops it's your choice and no one else should tell you other wise LOL. I do think a simple tiara would look very pretty with the dress. That style dress seems to me as being simple yet elegant so a tiara in an equally simple, elegant style would suit quite nicely.

Thank you Foxyfire, I know it's my wedding and I can do what I want but I sure would still want to look presentable.
