So we have a huge collection of movies, especially since we combined 2 households. I decided to put all the movies into an excel spreadsheet to better track them. So far I've done ONLY ONE SHELF and we have 104!!! I still have 2 shelfs to go. Craziness! Oh and I've found a double :-) How many movies do you own? Have you ever bought a movie and already had it?

So far, I have 224 on my official list. I haven't counted the old ones though which are on Betamax and VHS. I love movies especially those in the genre I love. I usually acquire top grossing movies with good reviews. I even buy those that I watch in the movie theaters. Oh yeah, It happened twice already and both on trilogies. I bought Matrix and Star Wars (ep 1-3) in packages and I forget I already had the last one in the Matrix and the first one from Star Wars.

At one time I has about 500 movies! Craziness for sure! :) I got rid of them, only kept about 30 or so... I now watch movies on the Internet, mainly for free. I like good old "B" movies, and lots of Sci/Fi Horror and comedy. I hope that your movie collection stays well and safe, and doesn't take over your home! :)

WOW 500? WOW!!! I have no clue where I'll be when I'm done organizing them! I have a lot of VHS movies also, which I want to eventually get on DVD. I'm an organizing freak; they won't be taking over the house - oh yeah and when I was going through the first row I noticed about 10 movies at least, that haven't been opened yet!!! oooooooooopppppss!

I am not an organisation freak but I know that using an Excel spreadsheet to do anything like that can be a real chore! Good for you! :) Have you tried BLIST? I think you'll go ga-ga over this database manager, it's free too! :) http://www.blist.com

My husband and I are both fond of watching movies even before we got married. We had several VCDs and DVDs but just a couple of months ago, some of them were stolen from our rented house. The thieves took it by opening one of our windows and getting some stuff, including the CD zippered holder where a lot of our collections are placed. But we decided not to delve on this issue for a longer time and instead, we both promised to still buy more and collect DVDs and VCDs of various movies when we have excess funds. Anyway, I've got a lot of collection, other than movies. I guess I'm not like other women who do collect pairs of shoes and bags. I do have several of those but I just don't keep them for myself. Most often, I would give or transfer these properties and belongings to my younger relatives and in-laws whom I know will benefit from using it. I believe this is better than discarding or throwing them all away. I prefer collecting old coins and stamps, too. Unfortunately, I have somehow forgotten them mainly because I only rely on the coins and stamps which my relatives from other countries give me. At present, writing letters or snail mails isn't being practiced so much anymore because e-mails and text messages are faster, cheaper, and more dependable means of communications with loved ones from far away. Aside from this, I have several cups and mugs which were given by friends or officemates. I'm not really fond of them but because they were given to me, I treasure them. But I've got to admit that I'm definitely fond of small and minute items like small decorated tin cans, scented shaped candles (fruits, flowers, veggies), traditional camera film canisters, bottles of perfumes, and jewelries. However, I intend to give all of my jewelries to our daughter when I get old, say when I'm about 50. I even have a lot of used call and text cards from Smart, Sun and Globe, numbering to about eighty pieces. You might find this funny and illogical but at the back of my mind, I'd like to think that they will be pretty valuable after about twenty or thirty years. I guess the weirdest collection that I've got is the little round pellets which I get from cleaning our staple of rice. Even my husband finds it weird and sometimes, he even laughs at it. But still, I've got other things which I'd want to collect like feng shui items, dolls and stuffed toys, Nintendo game and watch and cartridges. Unluckily, I don't have excess funds to buy these at the moment.

Movie collections are fun aren't they? I have movies that take up an entire wall in my room. Everybody in my family has volumes of movies dating back to when they were younger. I guess we're all movie buffs, there's no denying that.

Hello mare, we do have movie collection also here in our house and I could count how many of them already. We just put them in a CD case to save space and we throw away the original case since it is very bulky. My favorite collection are the God Father series, as well as Prison Break. Have a great day!

I own a ton of movies, I generally purchase one a week or so. I've never bought a movie twice, but I have recieved one as a gift. My girlfriend didn't have too many films when we moved in together so we didn't have to worry about doubles. I think we may have somewhere between two and three hundred movies, including box sets and series.

Wow. So yeah, I think that right now I have about a grand total of about 6 dvds. All 3 Lord of the Rings, the first 2 Pirates of the Caribbean, and Finding Nemo. My family is typically not one of buy movies, besides I usually don't watch tv all that much. We use netflix instead or I go to the theater with a bunch of my friends.
