I just wondered if anyone has gone through this type of thing with their kitten(s). I have a 2 month old kitten (have the mother as well) and for some reason he will not use the cat litter box that I have. I bet you can't guess what he uses lol so I will just tell you. He uses my daughters dora potty
. I am at my witts end with him
yea it's kinda cool haveing a potty trained cat but come on my daughter can't use her potty if there is a kitten using it all the time and peein on it
what do you think I should do? and if you have gone through this do you think I should just try and get him using the toilet? or maybe his own potty???

Wow...that's one I haven't heard before. It seems like it would be very hard to break this kitten of its "potty" habit and get him to use the litterbox instead. I would recommend trying to get him onto the toilet or getting him his own separate potty that you kept separate from your daughter's potty. If you wanted to get him onto the toilet, you would probably do what people do with litter training. You reward him for going on the potty and then slowly move the potty closer and closer to the toilet while continuously rewarding him for going on the potty. Then you get him in the bathroom and eventually onto the toilet. I hope it works.

lol I will have no troubles getting him in the bathroom since that is where my daughters potty is lol The problem is getting him on top of the toilet he is the runt and smaller than a normal 2 month old kitten so I am gonna have to buy a bigger stool for him lol

Well, maybe you could keep him on a separate potty from your daughter's until he gets big enough to fit on the toilet. Who knows, maybe you can even teach him to flush! It is a weird cat, but just remember that it's not unheard of for cats to think that they're people or for them to use the toilet.

I'm with everyone here -- get your daughter an identical potty and let the kitten keep pottying away with the old one. Or vice versa.
Reading your post I was going to initially suggest gently placing the kitten in the litter box, and move his front feet around with the digging motion cats use so he understands. But hey, cats can be trained to use toilets, and this one looks like he's made his choice already!
And yeah, the $$$ you save on kitty litter could be substantial.

lol I have tried gettinghim to use that darn litter box. I have a roll away litter box. it is a covered litter box that I roll and their mess goes into a side drawer then I pull the drawer out and get rid of it. last week i was kinda fed up with the kitten making a mess on the potty so I locked him in the litter box for 20 minutes and that didn't work he waited til he was out of the litter box and went in the potty instead LOL So now I am figuring I am not gonna bother i will let him use the potty just gotta figure out how to go about getting a new one for my daughter because she is pretty attached to her red dora potty.

wow-i've had an adult cat do that, but never a kitten voluntarily.
he'd be too small for the toilet, but i'd get him a potty chair of his own.think of all the litter you'll save on when he gets older;)

LOL yea if I was keeping him maybe. When I move I am probably going to have to get rid of him because there are not alot of place that allow animals around here. But yea would be great for that aspect

congratulations on your potty trained cat. i'd suggest you get another potty for your daughters. it's much easier to teach your daughters to use a new potty then to teach your kitten to use a new one. i would love to have a potty trained kitten or cat. maybe i should have offered this option to my cats when they were young. cheers ;]

LOL it is a great thing but at the same time it can be a real pain lol I woul dhave to get an identical potty because my daughter is kind of attached to hers. It's a red dora potty lol but I would be kinda of leary that the kitten would try to use the new one too and that would be a waste of money. who knows I will figure something out. I probably have to get rid of him anyways so I will have to give his new owners all the tips lol

LOL I wish it was that easy with him. I have done that with him and he still will not use it. He is very stubborn lol like his dad. His dad is an outdoor cat because he won't use a litter box either. I am starting to think I am gonna have to kick his butt outside too LOL

I agree with getting a new potty for your daughter. If the kitten has gotten used to using that one, he won't use a new one, even if you clean, sterilize, and do everything possible to remove his scent, he'll still know that's the one he's been using. Good luck, because it sounds like your daughter and the kitten are both going to want the same one. :)

I don't think another potty will work. For some reason he is attracted to the smell of the potty, so that is why he prefers using it. If you got him another potty, he may not use it, and if you got another one for your daughter, he would probably end up using that one too because its your daughter that produced the smell. How old is your daughter? Maybe its time to get her to use the big girl potty. Or get a potty seat to put on the big one if she isn't big enough yet.
