What is your favorite bait to use when you are fishing.  |

|  I like to use live bait when I go fishing. Not to keen on the artificial bate. My husband always liked the artificial bait and would always try to get me to change over but I never would. I had to have me a box of worms or a tube of crickets when I went with him. Of course he fished in Bass tournaments and had all these fancy fishing rod and reels and all kinds of lures, and tackle boxes. And then there I was with my little closed face reel with a light weight rod and a box of worms. I tell you, we were a pair. lol
Which do you prefer?

So you like the fake bait because it's weird? That's so funny. But you are right, some of it is pretty weird isn't it?
My hubby passed away suddenly of a heart attack in l997 but he really was a good fisherman. I have many trophy's and plaques that he won in his hayday of fishing tournaments.
But for me the best times were just when we would grab a cain pole and a box of worms and head out to our favorite fishing hole. Some really good memories there.

Got to the point where I would use just what I found along the creeks,under rocks and such. Now that I live close to the shore all I do is salt-water fish. Here I use a combination of baits,natural and artificial. There is nothing like ocean fishing!! On occasion I still dabble in the creeks and lakes with my Grandkids, But the shore is my home now and I would'nt change that for the world!! | | | | | | |

I know what you mean about ocean fishing. In the late 70's my husband was transferred to a place that was near the beach. We fished in the ocean almost every day after he would get off from work. And you're right, there's nothing like it. Of course at first we didn't know what kind of fish we were catching but the locals were so nice and helpful that we soon were seasoned salt water fishermen. :o)
I loved that we could take our net and catch shrimp to use for bait or even use cut bait from our first catch. It was really awesome.
I can just imagine what a grand time you are having fishing the ocean whenever you want to. That would be so cool.

I love live bait, I like fishing for big catfish, especially big flatheads. They prefer live bait. I like to use 3-4" bream or perch.
Check your state regulations on what is allowed. For just normal fishing with the kids or for bream we love crickets and worms. Have you ever used mealworms?
You have live then there also is natural which was live. I prefer natural over artificial. Grasshoppers are a great bait when they are in season and easily caught.

Where do you like to fish, which state and what lakes or rivers there. My favorite freshwater place in the lower 48 is Santee Cooper in South Carolina and in Alaska its the Kenai river.
