Getting Rid of Anthills by Getting Rid of the Ants First.

It seems that every property we have owned has come with anthills in the yard. And of course the way we found them was to run over them with the lawn mower, what a mess. For years we tried different things but nothing seems to work completely. We would see the population decrease for a while but soon they would be back to army size annoying us again. This year we found out about using cornmeal to kill the little pests. Just sprinkle the cornmeal around the anthill and the ants will take it back to their dinner table where they will gourge themselves with the cornmeal. Now their little bodies have the cornmeal inside and no way to digest it so they either burst or starve to death, either way you should have no more anthill problems. This may need to be done each year as their relatives come to visit, see their not home and move right in. What do you do to get rid of anthills on and around your property?

Cream of wheat is great. It works on the same principal as cornmeal. In order to eradicate them you will have to continue to use it. I am sure the ants have a reserve food supply so all of them will not be eating the bait. When the population decreases continue to use it. Pest control needs to be continuous.

I have never tried cream of wheat although I really like it myself so maybe I wouldn't be willing to share that with the ants. :) I will give it a try the next time we have an anthill problem and see how it works. thanks

Gotta Love Ants - The Pest that never dies
I'll have to try this. We have tried the commercial stuff and it isn't working and I tell you them fire ants hurt like ummm ya know when they bite. I am a little allergic to them so they itch like crazy as well and I've been lucky not to get more than 5 or 6 bites at a time. It's been dry here as well so they are trying to come indoors so I use ant spray and that gets em for awhile. But I think I am going to try the cornmeal thing. Thanks
