Normally, we'd be cooking on the grill... just something simple like hot dogs and hamburgers, with cold salads and corn on the cob. But everything is all wet right now! We're probably just going to have leftover spaghetti! My oldest son has to work tonight, so he can't come over. My youngest son lives in another state, so he won't be coming. My friends have all gone to visit their relatives, so it will just be my husband and myself. Besides that, it's raining! It's supposed to rain off and on all day and all night. I even bought fireworks for the occasion! (They're legal here, by the way. ) What a yucky 4th! There will be a fireworks display at the nearby university IF it stops raining long enough, but the ground will be drenched by that time so it won't be any fun. I think hubby and I are just going to stay home, eat spaghetti and watch the fireworks on TV. The ones we usually watch on TV come from Washington, D.C., and I strongly doubt they'll have any this year because of all the rain. (We live about 110 miles from D.C. It's raining all over this area.) A lot of states have banned fireworks because of the drought. Others are drenched from rain! Geesh!

Yep, they're legal here any time of the year. There is a list, 46 pages long, of the ones we're allowed to set off on our own property. It includes pretty much all of them except for the really big ones.

We are having ribs in the indoor smoker, baked beans, potato salad, homemade rolls, and leftover birthday cake. yum. I will make a big pitcher of lemonaide also. It is just the three of us but since we are not doing the fireworks thing I have decided we should atleast have a good meal. Would do the ribs in the outdoor smoker but the ants have taken over the backyard and I have to put out more fireant killer before we can enjoy the backyard again.

I live alone, so I'll be haveing a garden salad and salmon cakes tonight. It's raining here and I feel bad for people that are planning get to gethers. I'm trying to lose a few pounds anyway.
