So, I was reading and responding to this discussion about Animal Crossing and it got me thinking. I've played the Gamecube version of Animal Crossing, but now i'm considering getting the one for the DS & I was wondering, what's the difference between the one for the gamecube, vs. the one for the DS?

DS version:
You only get eight villagers at a time, they have more made up holidays like "Yay Day," they've added the slingshot to the tools you can use, you have to water your flowers daily, thus it's harder to get a perfect town in the DS version, pitfalls can be found buried daily, the towns are smaller, it's harder to catch bugs in the DS version (IMO) due to the fact that you can't hold your net in a "ready position." There's different bugs and fish to collect in the DS version. They've added a scorpion and a tarantula, for one thing. (You have to be careful when trying to catch these at night, because they'll attack you and you'll end up back at your house.)It seemingly takes longer to pay off your house and you can grow red turnips.
I wasn't sure about getting the DS version myself, but I got one back in April and I've been playing it every day since.

I have the DS version. I don't own a Gamecube. I have a question for you. What is the deal with the pitfall seeds? Do they have any particular use?

The DS has a more human look for the player, and it gives you a bit more customization, but it lacks the NES games.

Well that's just disapointing! The NES games were one of my favorite parts. I mean.. they could still kind of work for the DS. Maybe not as well as they did for the gamecube, but yeah. Still, *shakes head in disapointment*, ah well.
