Do you have experience taking care of an oscar fish? I do have and it is a great fun. Oscar fish is friendly and recognizes its owner.

I had 2 oscars that were huge they got to big for my 55 gallon tank so i put them in an out door deep filtered pond and the next day i found them dead on the ground out side of the pond they jumped out. I was crushed because I had had them for years. I just loved it when you came in the house and they came to the edge of the tank to greet me. I thought about getting more but really want to move out of Florida and don't want to get attached and have to leave them behind. Maybe after i relocate then i will start over again

I feel sad about what happened to your oscar fish, I am sure that you really miss them.

Oscars are fish with lots of personality but I usually call them mouths with fins behind because they will eat almost anything that goes in the tank. Yes I have kept them and even bred them (or rather they bred for me).If you do enough water changes then a 55 gallon tank could be large enough for a pair but not everyone is willing to do a daily water change to keep their fish in good health. I had a 700 gallon central filtration system and the tanks were only 20gallon long tanks but the oscars (15 inches long) would breed for me every couple of weeks without fail. It was not like they were only in a 20 gallon tank but rather in 700 gallons of water.

I kept an oscar for awhile, however, I am in the process of moving and had to get rid of it because my new place isn't big enough for an appropriately sized tank.
