Do you use a bookmark?

I have a tendency to lose an actual book marker so i just stray peices of paper and on the rare occasion i will remember the page i was on, but thats only a last resort when no paper is around or when i am in a hurry.

I always remember where I've stop reading and i never forget that.

I'm absolutely terrible at remembering page numbers!
I made a bookmark out of a paper bag and some tape the other day, but before that I would use anything that was lying around like paper clips, train tickets and receipts.
If I'm only leaving my book for a second, I just leave it open face down on my bed. And if it's hardback with a dust cover I use the flaps of the cover to hold my page.

I used to mark my page with a piece of paper or cardboard that I tore off from somewhere. Now, since I had bookmarks made to send with my book, Cat-House Sonnets, 100 poems celebrating cats, I use one of those as a book mark.

I have tried most of the methods you've used as well, exxodus. I've used random papers, an actual bookmark and tried to remember pages. I use whatever method is at my convenience. I do have many actual bookmarks, but I don't regularly use them for a reason. Because I may be reading more than one book at one time and if my bookmark is used in one book, I don't want to hunt for one to use in another. If I'm too lazy, I will just try to remember the page number/chapter that I left off at. If I just need to put my book down for a few minutes, I'll just lay the book down open to the page I'm not, but I'm careful not to bend the spine too much. And I'm ashamed to admit to all the booklovers out there, even though I am one myself, that I occasionally dog-ear (fold down) the page I'm currently on. I generally only do this to library books though because I hate to do that to my own books and definitely do not do it to books that I borrow from friends.

For the most part I don't. I usually just remember what page I'm on. However, if I'm reading a hard back and I'm not too far into the book, I'll use the inside flap of the cover to mark my place.

If there's a piece of paper handy, then I'll use that. Lately I've been using a subscription card that fell out of a magazine. There have been times I've used a receipt.

One of the stores, Half Price Books, always puts a bookmark in with your purchases. I don't always use them but if it's handy, I will use that.

I don't like bookmarks, so I just flip through until I find the spot I left off. It's been working for my whole life. Every time I try to use a bookmark I would just get annoyed with it because it always seemed to be in the way. It just ended up being a nusicance. Not to mention that because I enjoy reading so much, I'm always getting bookmarks as gifts for whatever and I feel so bad because if I don't use it then they'll know I didn't like the gift, but if I do then the only thing that'll come out of it will be frustration. Who would have thought a bookmark could cause so much trouble.

I have used all three methods. I rarely remember page numbers, but if the book has chapter titles, I can usually remember those. I usually use either a random piece of paper or a bookmark. If it's a library book, I'll occasionally use the slip with the due date to mark the page. That way I'll remember where I left off and when the book is due. However, I tend to like bookmarks with clever quotes best.

To be honest with you, I usually fold the corner of the page down, which infuriates my partner no end, but I do have one bookmark that I like to use.

It's flat, silver, and has a quote on it in blue by Eleanor Roosevelt that goes "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."

This is a reminder to me to always dream big and go for what I want. Considering I usually use it for my New Age books, it serves as a constant reminder along with the words in the book to always be the best I can be.
