Sunglasses protection for the eyes from direct sunlight

Whenever i go out i never wear sunglasses, my MIL advices me to wearany sunglasses to my eyes protection from direct sunlight. Admitting to myself that i encountered eye problem, when i am in direct sunlight i get misty eyes and have pain on it.

Everyone should wear sunglasses to protect their eyes from uv rays just like you use sunscreen to protect your skin.
