When i try to make like most people, enough water until dry... it is always so bad! And i always tend to think the water dry and the rice will burn... I really dont understand how to do it! So i do it with lots of water and when i see the rice is ready i put out the water and wash the rice in cold water... its beautifull made, but is cold and a waste of water and time and also gas...
So, how you do it, please?

This is what I do to make rice:

2 cups water
1 cup rice

Add both to pan bring to a boil turn down the heat to medium and keep an eye on it until you see no more water boiling. Remove from burner cover with a pan lid and let sit for a few minutes. NO stirring while it's cooking only time you stir it it when you remove the lid after letting it sit for awhile to fluff it up.
Hope that helps. Amberina

Hi,
I heat a tablespoon of oil in the pan and put 1 cup of rice (not precooked), a clove of garlicand half a tablespoon of salt. I stir until the rice is translucent. Then I put 1 3/4 boiling water and boil it for 7 min at high heat. Then I cover and turn the heat to minimum. The rice is cooked after about 20 min.
The pot should be thick if possible. Heavy aluminum with teflon coating is the best.

Well it is a different way! I must try some day but only when i feel more confident with the first advice i got... this one seems more complicated and i already have such a low confidence... Thanks. I will try later

You proably have the heat too high as well. It only needs to be high until it starts to boil, than you turn it down to a VERY low simmer and cover the pan.

Like the other person said, 1 cup of rice, 2 cups of water. The rice MUST be level in the cup too. Jasmine rice is 1 cup and 1 1/2 cups of water because its a firmer texture. Sushi rice is sticky and needs more. Each bag has directions on how to make the rice.
