I Miss My Husband So Badly That My Lips Are Tinglig!! |
|
This is nuts!!!! 11 days after we got married in September of 07 I had to fly home to Canada. A few months later I was able to fly back to the USA where my husband was still working, and stay for a while, or atleast until I suffered a rather extreme case of culture shock/aerican burn out, and needed to get back to Canada. Seriously, to this Canadian it seems the American media takes religion and politics way too seriously. I've been hiding out in The Second Cup in Guelph, ever since I got back two months ago. It's nice in here. No American news boradcasts, only good coffee and familiar territory. I was just listening to the BBC World Service on the internet. I love the BBC!
I hope my husband can find a job up here soon enough. I miss him so much my lips are tingling.
When he gets up here next month for the wedding ceremony we're having with family and friends, I don't think I'm going to let him go again.;)

sarahruthbeth22 (10466) | 1 year ago | Bad mostly for us who of English decent and African decent too.Chances are that the original 13 colonies and Canada would be the only English speaking territories, if there isn't a u.S., there isn't the Louisiana Purchase.and without that, everything west of the Mississippi would belong to the French and The Spanish. And if you are of African decent, you would Still be a slave of some sort. No U.S., no Declaration Of Independence. And without it, would there really be people who would stop slavery?I mean if this and the Constitution weren't written, would the concept of freedom become a birth rite here? I don't think so.I could be wrong.

I can't imagine where that could have been!! teehee All too soon the 2 of you will be together and you will have some fun stories to remember and to tell everyone, as you are telling now to those of us who are watching this fairy tale unfold. This is an unusual story that has been interesting and fun to hear about and one of these days you just might be bored and wish that you were still jet setting around somewhere instead of sitting in The Second Cup with no Americans to entertain you except for your husband!! Love ya, L.

15. p1kef1sh (5698) | 1 year ago | It's funny. I always thought that the BBC did nothing but politics, but not so much religion. We've certainly had wall to wall coverage of the Democrat nominations. I bet more Brits can name Obama than they can Cameron! I'll leave you to work out who he might be!
I hope that you get together soon. I must say that from the UK's perspective your husband is right. We are sliding rapidly into becoming a stasi-like state. Whatever though. Get together and do it soon if you are able. Take care.

17. checapricorn (9975) | 1 year ago | Hi danishcanadian,
I know how it feels when we are away to the person we care and love most! Even if you can see him on cam and talk to him over the phone, it's different to have him beside you where you can touch and hug. I hope also that he will be able to find a job there so, you won't be living a life separately!

19. akumei1269 (1086) | 1 year ago | It is a surprising news for me that a Canadian girl gets a culture shock (i encountered this phrase in Alvin Toffler's Future Shock where he referred to it while explaining the Future Shock) having to stay in USA . Because my perception is that both these two countries are culturally equally Hip Hop type .
Another pleasant thing is that you, danishcanadian, love your husband so much .
I wish from deep of my heart that your hubby gets a job equally or more remunerative in a place where you can live with him without being culturally shocked.

If your husband can find a job here that would be nice, has he been looking while in there? Or you can look for him and send him what you think can be a good opportunity, he can always come for an interview I guess. When we were thinking about moving to BC my husband went there for a job interview. He went on a Friday so he only took one day off. We almost did it too, but then looked at the cost of houses there and... well we weren't ready for that then. Maybe one day. THere are good jobs here and once one can find one I think it's not any less than a job in the states. If he can't you might have to rethink the thought of moving there. I find that it depends a lot on the people we associate with. We can find people with similar opinions everywhere. As for news and all the rest it's a matter of choice - pay attention or not:) It's not a piece of cake and it will always smart a bit, but it can be done. THe main thing here is that you and your husband can be together, no matter where. I postponed my wedding 4 times. Canceled it once. This because I didn't really want to come here and hoped that since he was feeling he didn't like it here that much either, he would go back home again. But in the end he couldn't leave mom and dad here, and I ended up coming. AM I completely happy with being here? Well... I've been living here now as much as I have lived in my home country. I think that for some reasons I probably wouldn't feel that much at home there anymore. I enjoy living here, but there is always that missing there. In the end I'm fine, and happy - the catch is that as a person I feel I'm not here or there. If I went back there I would miss here just as much as I am missing there now. But, for the most part I'm happy here:)
