a 42 yr old man was in the garden center at walmart and was bit on his right hand by a pygmy rattler. the incident took place in a walmart store in pembroke pines, florida. a venom response team was contacted. he was taken to the hospital sunday to be treated. the pygmy rattler is venomous but rarely fatal. at least there was a small comfort there that this snake was rarely fatal. but can you imagine going shopping and getting bit by a snake? we're not talking the jungle here. this is in a store even though it's in florida. i guess it could be worse. he could have been attacked by an alligator.

i am terrified of those evil squiggly things. and a person was bit while looking at vegetables. how outlandish. you just really have to be careful anywhere. these are rare cases though and we must be rational here. relax and have happy thoughts. peace to you.

I heard about this a couple of years ago about the bite in the vegetable dept, and since then i have been watchful,i do know it is rare, but it can happen, and to think about it the garden center would be the most likely place for this to happen...I had a friend that got bitten 2 years ago by sticking her hand down in a planter at her house...The bites do something to your nerves and it took her a whole year to recover,They thought she had Lou gerings disease but come to find out it was the snake venom that caused her nerve damage...But she is fine now, thank goodness...
