Australian Celebrity Vet, Dr Harry Cooper, Confirms He Has Cancer  

Tonight, everyone's favourite Australian celebrity vet, Dr Harry Cooper announced on Channel 7 news that he has been suffering from prostate cancer since christmas 2007.

The former co-host of Harry's Practice and now co-host on Better Homes and Gardens told his adoring public that he has been having to cut back on his travel while undergoing treatment, but that his prognosis is good.

For years, this man has had Australian and New Zealand audiences spell bound with his animal magic. He has helped thousands of pet owners overcome often disturbing behaviours and habits their pets have displayed, and made keeping pets happy look so easy.

For someone who is 66 years young, he still looks amazing, and while maybe a little on the thinner side, there has been no other tell tale signs of his battle. Something that proves his diagnosis was made early enough.

It would be very hard to find another 'animal whisperer' to replace him, as he has certainly set a high precedent for all vets and animal psychologists. I for one wish I had his skills, though I do have his passion for animals.

It is sad to think that he has taken this battle on away from the public eye, but I can understand his need for privacy too. I hope that his fight give men over the age of 50 the courage to go and get their prostate checked out too. Gone are the days of highly embarrassing and personally invasive tests, now all they need is a blood sample.

My positive energies are with Dr Harry and his family, friends and collegues. Let's not make his struggle be in vain and encourage the men in our lives to stand up and get their bits checked out on a regular basis.

For those of you who have no idea who I am talking about, sorry, I did put in the title that it was an Australian I was talking about, but the advice I give about getting the prostate checked should still apply to every man of 50+ years in every part of the world.
