I think Circuit City had a promo before wherein you can trade PSXs, PS Ones, PS2, working or not, at their shops and you can avail of some great discounts upon buying either a PSP or another PS2 (slim I think..) don't know if the promo still is going up to now.

If that drum game that you are referring isn't percussion freaks (a complete drum set with even the pedal at the bottom) or Taiko Drum Master (One drum wherein you either hit it at the center or at the rim of the drum), I have no idea what that is. Dance Revo could really take some sweat out of you

Well, some who are really are good at those motion sensor games would really do dance numbers that are more intricate compared with what you can do with those dance pads from Dance Revo.. well, that's just what I was able to see whenever I go to a close by mall when classes are over..

What?!?! When did this promo happen?? You're sure they'd take the consoles even if it isnt working?? Man, I needed that. My PS2's not working right now. (parents still dont know) Not sure if it just needs cleaning(doubt it) or the lens are scratched(more likely). Mine is the slim one which as we know is fragile.tsk3 Now, Im regretting buying it especially when I see that PSP is now only P11,000(not sure if its still brand new but a PSP is still a PSP).

You've got the name right, it was Percussion Freaks, aced one of the beginner songs and my cousin hates me for it. Kinda forgot about the Taiko Drum Master. At first we didnt know that we were supposed to tap the rims. I mean when Im using the left drum then I should tap the left rim of the drum and not the right or the center. It took us a while to get that.LOL! But we were able to finish the song Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani without any mistakes.

You could be right about the sensor arcades and I have seen some good players but still it looks weird. Probably most recommended for the more daring players or for choreographers.

They did. I was looking for PSP accessories before when I happen to browse at their display window. A small xerox copy of their promo was posted, small to even catch distant eyes for attention. When I went in to inquire, they had this huge poster about the promo that pretty much sums up everything that you would inquire. Avail of discounts upon trading in any of the Sony Computer Entertainment items that they have listed when you buy a console or a hand held.

Your PS2 isn't in working condition anymore? If you only know how to realign the lense, you'd be playing again if you wanted to. Though, if you do still want to really play with that console again, I suggest you have it modified.. Not just modified to read cheaper games, which actually causes the lense to get 'dis'-aligned since the way how cheaper games are manufactured aren't always the same which makes the lense adjusts itself so much just to read the data on the DVDs. Then again, that's just what I think. Anyway, by modify, I mean that you get that PS2 of yours to read games from a hard disk so that you won't have to constantly open the lid and have it read different DVDs. Similar to PSPs with custom firmware, more space means more games

That price you mentioned about those PSPs? That's around the price of a brand new PSP. If you'd go for those which are pre-owned, you'd get a cheaper price as well as some additional items along with the unit. Just have to scrutinize the item before deciding on doing the exchange or not. If your planning on buying one, see to it that it runs on the latest stable firmware, the display has no dead pixels, it can be connected to a computer through the USB, can go Wi-Fi, speakers are working well, every button works and the analog stick is responsive with no disparity.

Oh, so you were able to play an English Taiko Drum Master. I was also able to play an English version of that game but, I really had more fun with the Japanese one. Played with some anime songs in it and had a couple of blisters 'caused for being carried away while hitting the drum with those huge drum sticks. For Percussion Freaks, I can't do it with a pedal and some players really have it set up in auto-pedal so that they won't have to bother stepping on it that often.

Hehehe, more daring players, most probably... since I find those motion sensor arcade games being played more by guys with more "fluid" motions in them... still, impressive.

The latter, when I was still studying.. or even perhaps whenever I'm at a mall and having nothing to do.. watching is free after all

Thanks for the tips..no clue on how to realign lenses, dont even wanna touch it fearing it might break or something.LOL Its now in my cupboard. Just 'packed' it last week. I miss playing actually but just dont have the time anymore. Ill keep the modification thing in mind when I take it out again(hopefully next summer).
To tell you honestly, I dont really know the full specs of the latest consoles(told been living under a rock;maybe just a shady rock^_^). As long as they give a good gaming experience, all the extra stuff are just great bonuses.

Oh, so there's a Japanese version huh? Wasnt aware of that..is there a version that has both English and Japanese songs? I dont remember the song selection much since the last time I played was about 3-4 years ago, dont exactly have them here. I still remember the coins and the monkeys though(or was that just my imagination??)...What's 'auto-pedal' exactly?Is that a cheat or is that available in one of the set-ups?..Took me a while to get used to tapping and kicking at the same time. I felt like a horse kicking and kicking on the pedal and I almost fell out of the chair at one time from all the kicking!LOL

Who knows, another promo might come up from that store or other gaming stores out there and they might even have better (or not) offers than the last time Its not something that is immediately needed to be done anyway, just an option that we could consider whenever it is available.

Its better safe than sorry, even I don't know how to realign lenses of those PS2s.. I could align lenses of PSXs but not of PS2s Our consoles are just collecting dusts underneath our already dusty television that would have static in its display whenever a white color is showing. If we only had the boxes of those consoles, I'd probably had set them aside myself and had those DVD games released from their cases and had them in a good disc album to house them all.. by category of games and alphabetical if I really had nothing to do.
Some of my classmates think that having another alternate console is cool but, I also agree with you on the gaming experience that matters, whatever console such games would play on.

Yeah, there is a Japanese version of Taiko Drum Master, 'Taiko' (??, Taiko?) means simply "drum" in Japanese (etymologically "great" or "wide drum") - answers.com
Those audio and visual effects while you play the game are also Japanese in a way, though I can't recall a monkey as well, its been quite a while since I last went to the arcades.
Auto-pedal, don't really know how it is called since I really don't know how to set it up in the options menu, is really available since players I see would often do it first before playing away. I couldn't really navigate well with arcade options so I guess I also looked like a horse that kept on kicking and kicking on the pedal whenever I had to during a game.

I hope so..better get my eyes peeled.

I am sure about the coins and the monkeys. The coins add up on the side of the screen inside a bar when I hit tap the right place. The monkeys are just there for fun or act as 'facilitators' of the game. I think some of them dance too. But then again, Im not really sure.

I went to the mall recently. I couldn't see the xerox poster of the promo by the window that I mentioned before but, the big tarpaulin that stated the promo was still there hanging inside the shop. Hope that you can avail of the promo if its still valid or else, the staff must be really lazy to at least take it off to avoid confusion..

Though I went there, I wasn't able to go and play those arcade games that we've already mentioned before.. watched a few but, that was it.. The Taiko Drum Master game was being over powered by the audio levels of the other arcade games around it.. if they would only change the layout of the place, give space between such games so that you can distinctly hear your own game apart from others..

May? That's not bad... I think its practical to go there if you really have something to do there than just to go for nothing.. I only went there since my father invited my mom to watch a film and I had to come along with our nephew so that it wouldn't complain at home while mom is at the movies..

Hope that when you do get to purchase a PSP of your own, you'd get it in a very good deal

If there was only a suggestion box at the arcades, I'd probably be filling it with good arcade games as well as submit a bond paper to illustrate a good lay out for them to think about.. of course, since they don't have a suggestion box, they're probably more into earning through customer's amusement

I guess, who knows indeed what they'd come up next? I hope that if they do make a sequel for the PSP, it would be backward compatible and can still be modified to run games from the Memory Stick

You know what, I could recall a suggestion box that only offered small pieces of paper to write on which got me to suggest, "Provide bigger sheets of paper where suggestions where we could write more suggestions."

I have participated in many discussions that were also not among my interests. They were slightly along with the things I know but, the interests that they were categorized with wasn't what I was interested in so, I just keep clicking 'no thanks' or something whenever offered.
