What do you first think of when you hear the words Swedish, Sweden, or Swede(s)? My boyfriend lives in Sweden, and it is funny to hear the stereotypes. What do you usually associate with the Swedish culture?

Everyone says that a swedish summer is the most beautiful thing in the world. who knows. i would love to go. i need help with some swedish translation and the internet isn't being very helpful. I have a friend who occationally writes to me in swedish and i want to be able to answer back and get the full gist of what he's saying. any suggestions? i'm a bit stumped. Thanks.

Well, almost the whole Swedish population knows English, at least everyone below the age of 50 and over the age of 10, though many over and under those ages speak English quite well. My boyfriend is very good at English, it barely has an accent at all. Why don't you just ask your friend to speak English, I am sure they know it. If you want to travel to Sweden you literally need no Swedish language experience at all, I know some, but I won't even use it, if any kind of situation comes up where they can't speak English, my boyfriend will speak Swedish for me.
But anyways, have a great day or night.
