Why do cats stare out the window? |
|
Right now, my big cat is sitting on my computer desk and staring off into the distance out the window.
What's he looking at? I can't see anything, but he seems very upset by something outside the window.
His eyes are small and his mouth is very tight as if he's scared.
Maybe he's just contemplating the sky!
Have you ever seen your cat stare out the window at some imaginary thing? What are cats looking at when they stare out the window?
Is there something out there, I can't see?

I think that humas can learn a lot from cats. We sped so much time watching the world go by "electronically," being tuned into different cities and even different countries, that we neglect to see what is going on in our own back yard. I think we all need to take the time to join our cats, and stare out the window for a while.

4. mrghill (1982) | 1 year ago | Don't forget cats can hear things we can't as humans. He probably saw a Pitt Bull wearing a red, plaid Brooks Brothers suit, Patton leather loafers and a sky blue Jeff cap approach your next door neighbor's front door with a new "Kirby" vacuum cleaner. That could disturb any cat.

6. tamarafireheart (12608) | 1 year ago | Hi beautyqueen26,
Funny how cats do that, my cats are always doing that when they sit on the window ledge. Maybe they seeing spirits that we can.t see or maybe just maybe wait for it a bird from a distance that we can't see from where we are and they can hehe.

9. celticeagle (4847) | 1 year ago | Cats have better eyesight and hearing than we do. They also have a sense that tells them when something is up. If they are trapped in the house they can get pretty ansy to be outside and chase a squirrel or a bird. It is sad to have them confined inside. They love the outdoors and being free, like most animals.

10. Opal26 (10049) | 1 year ago | My cats look out the window and I wonder the same thing. I love to watch their faces and the way their eyes change and their ears flick. I wonder what their little cat minds are thinking too. I sometimes look out and try to see what they are looking at, but I don't seem anything. But they remain focused, so I have to assume that they know exactly what they see! They can stay focused for hours in one position. My cat Luna has the cutest stance, he leans on the windowsill with 1 paw folded. He seems comfortable and usually has a very serious look on his little cat face and doesn't like being disturbed in his quest of looking at, well I just don't really know, it's a cat secret...
