My grandfather is ready to die

I love my grandfather to death. He raised me. He is my everything. He is 92. He is ready to die. I feel like we want him to stay around for selfish reasons. His kidneys have stopped working, his leg has been amputated. He is on oxygen and is going senile as of the past month. It is hard to see such a strong, robust man this way. Am I selfish for wanting him to live?

Sometimes we don't realize that how much we can love a person. There is nothing selfish from your side wanting him to stay as long as possible. It just shows that you yearn for his presence. I am very sad to hear about your grandfather but we all have to meet our demise and end of life. I can just hope that his eventual parting from this worldly affair would be easy and I also ask you to be strong. Losing someone close can be quite life-changing. I wish you great strength in these darkest hours. God bless!

I do not believe you are selfish. And I understand what you are going through having lost my grandma and mom. And now recently my favorite Aunt. Do not feel bad and enjoy your grandpa for as long as you can.
