Ken Griffey Jr |
| |
| I am a huge Reds fan but would love to see Junior go. I loved to move that brought him here and because of injuries he has not been the same Junior in Seattle. No one's fault. I'd love to see him get traded and be able to get a championship. Many Reds fans don't think he deserves to be traded. Those fans don't understand baseball. In the modern day of steriods, Junior has hit 600+ HR the right way. He deserves a championship and the Reds sure as heck won't give him one. He was never ours to begin with. His is from Cincinnati, yes, but he started his career in Seatle and had his best years there. He'll go into Cooperstown as a Mariner and as a Reds fan I'll be cheering for him the entire time. | | | | | |

| | I agree that he deserves a championship ring, but I am not sure he'll ever get one. The last rumor I heard was that he might have Seattle begging for his return. God knows Seattle needs a lot of help, but I don't think Jr. is the answer to their problems. | | | | | | |

| | Unfortunately, I think you are right. he has detiorated so much and has a huge contract that there quite frankly are not many takers. The Seattle rumors were rampant early but they stink now and it would not make sense for them to trade for Jr now. And the Reds are only 8 back from the wild card. I fear they may try to keep Dunn and Jr and make a run that will be unsuccessful. I like Bruce and the young guys. I am okay with getting a few more and letting them learn on the big league level. | | | |

| | Pirates? Wow, we are both gluttons for punishment. We need to go back to the 70's when our teams were good:) Then again, we could be Seattle. You are right. They have NO CLUE | | | |

| | I've been a Pirates fan my whole life and I am 57. I'm used to losing seasons LOL The Reds had some great teams and players when they were The Big Red Machine :) | | | |

| | I'm 32 and have been a Reds fan for life. Unfortunately I missed the Big Red Machine as I was born in 1976. My only success is the 1990 World Series and then in the mid 90's we flirted with the playoffs losing in game 163 to the Mets. Other than that, I'm in the same boat as you. We have had lots of good players but not enough at one time. Eric Davis is my favorite Red of all time. Million Dollar talent and and ten cent body that couldn't hold up. | | | |

| | My hope for you is that you live closer to the Reds than I do the Pirates. About the only time I get to see the Pirates on t.v. is when they play the bums the Dodgers since I live outside of Los Angeles. | | | |

| | I do live in Cincinnati, so I get to go to my fair share of games. I just hope they are meaningful games sometime soon:) | | | |

| | I grew up in Minnesota and moved to the Seattle area in time to see Jr. as a rookie. His spirit on the field was incredible. However, his greed overtook his skill here and he became a Red with a huge contract. I agree, he did things the right way as far as his performance on the field, no telling what records the man could have broken had he not been injured so often. As far as deserving to play on a championship team, well there are many players in the Hall of Fame that never got that opportunity, so thinking he deserves a ring is out of our control. He deserves just what he wanted. Money. There are many in Seattle that have turned their backs on him for that reason alone. Players have changed since the years of the Big Red Machine, you know it and I know it, most of America knows it too. A player that spends their entire career with one team is rare, almost unheard of in small-market teams. I miss Kirby Puckett. He was a player. He turned down an offer from the Yankees that would have paid him 3 million dollars a year more than what the Twins offered him. He has two rings and is playing center field in Heaven as we speak. | | | | | | |

| | True. True. Gone are they days when guys chose loyalty over money. However, Jr did take a paycut to come back home to Cincinnat and the city has not embraced him. I was a huge Pucket fan and wish more athletes were like him. I wish that I could have been around back in the day when ball players had other jobs in the offseason and played baseball because they loved the game. | | | |

| | I grew up ten blocks from the old Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington, Minnesota. This was in the 60s and 70s. I remember being able to hear the roar of the crowd when the Twins made a good play or hit a homerun. Players back in those days did have other careers besides baseball. Toward the end of the 70s, it changed somehow. Two players caused this change. One was Curt Flood and the other was Reggie Jackson. Baseball has never been the same since. | | | |

| | Agreed. I am only 32, so I missed the Big Red years here in Cincy. However, I know and appreciate baseball history and can understand the feelings and emotions that went with the game back then. I get chills today when I am at a game and Rose, Bench, Foster or another member of the Big Red Machine is in attendance and mentioned. They get standing ovations. Barry Larkin and guys like that do not. | | | |

| | yes your right Ken Jr is one of the greatest and if it wasn't for the injury's he would be close to or if not broken the all time hitting record. But in the end its all about the money look at the drama in Green bay. | | | | | | |

| | I don't really think Favre's is about the money. He is just like Jordan and can't walk away from the game. He retired to early with stuff left on the table. | | | |
